Snacking with the dolphins

Yesterday I took my niece, Chloe, to the Shedd Aquarium for the morning. While we loved seeing the beluga whales and dolphins from the surface the best part of the visit was seeing them from below the surface. Chloe enjoyed her mid-morning snack while watching the dolphins swim.

Lamu Island, Kenya

Most of today was spent copying my very first set of Kenya images over into Lightroom in order to back them up and to look through them with fresh eyes. When I journeyed to Lamu with Karen, Emma and Tessa in October of 2006 I was a baby traveler. Completely in awe and overwhelmed by [...]

Winter. Winta. Wiiintaaa.

Tuesday night found me boarding a taxi at the tail end of a blizzard, shedding my winter coat, and double checking to see that I’d packed enough SPF 45.  My destination, you wonder?  No, not a beach somewhere exotic - not even a poolside in Florida. Celebrating St. Paddy’s on the Chicago River

Every Chicagoan knows the best place to be on St. Patrick's Day in the city - along the Chicago River! Each year the Plumber's Union dumps a special orange dye (originally used to detect illegal waste in the river) that turns the water a bright, almost neon green! A video of the entire process (I'm [...]

Mott 50 Beach Shoot

When Mott 50 co-founder, Anne, approached me several months ago to do some photography work for their sun protective clothing line I jumped at the chance for three reasons. One, Anne is one of my oldest friends (we grew up down the street from one another) and I wanted to reconnect with her, seeing as [...]
