A Lady Away

IMG_3971The past couple of weeks have been exciting. I’ve been lucky enough to book out of town work in truly beautiful locations offering the opportunity for one adventure after another. From driving around Northern Arizona for a week to networking in Toronto to family time in Michigan to experiencing history in Virginia and Maryland it’s been a lively start to the summer! As my readers and friends will likely remember, I entered a pretty amazing contest with My Destination this spring and while I didn’t win, I was so inspired by the experience to pursue a dream I’ve had for a while: to be a travel writer.

Six years, when I returned home from living in Kenya, I had a dream to be a travel photographer and writer. Like with so many dreams, life and the need to make a living got in the way of what I really wanted to do with with my career. J. Winter Photography is alive and strong and I have no intention of letting it fall to the wayside – in fact, I’ve been able to use it to help me pursue this reignited dream. In short, I’m using it to take me places.

I’ve been lucky enough to talk to a handful of successful travel writers and have taken their advice in not only redesigning this site, but creating a new one. Enter A Lady Away! This is a travel website designed for women who want to get away, have adventures and see the world – even if it means going at it alone. I hope it will be a healthy mix of inspiring editorials, travel tips, videos, product reviewsphoto essays and destination overviews. I am also featuring guest writers and welcome submissions. JennWinter.com will still exist and I will continue to post  personal stories and photographs, so I encourage my followers to not only stick around here but also journey with me to my new online endeavor.

I launched A Lady Away about a month ago and have been so encouraged by the positive response and support I’ve seen on the site so far. As always, thank you for your continued readership, encouragement and enthusiasm!

xoxo
