This post is a couple of weeks overdue but I wanted to announce that my sister, Lizzy, my mom and I all successfully completed our Run Charlevoix events! Three Winter girls in three different events – I’m not sure if the small town race was ready for us! Lizzy finished second overall in the half marathon walk with a stellar time of 2:48:04. My mom competed in the 5k run and I tackled the 10k run.
The marathon race (the main event) was won by Chuck Engle, aka the Marathon Junkie. When Chuck crossed the finish line with a time of 2:39:26 he had one thing on his mind. Dr. Pepper. That’s right, just moments after completing the marathon Chuck not only sipped but full out chugged a bottle of Dr. Pepper. I thought I was going to be sick just watching it!
In all it was a great experience and we all hope to participate again next year. But for now, I’ve moved on to half marathon training for my next big race in September.
Yikes.
