I just read Katherine Lonsdorf’s recent contribution to World Hum and feel obligated to share her story with others. All women who travel should really take the time to read and reflect on this one.
One of the lines that I relate to and echo, full-heartedly:
I strongly believed, and still do, that the only way Americans can shed stereotypes abroad is by traveling with pride, respect and cultural awareness—and making it less likely for Americans to be defined by satellite images and sound bites.
