It’s been a challenging couple of months for my sister Lizzy and her family. My brother-in-law Ron has been struggling with a medical issue that landed him in the hospital for six nights over Thanksgiving and, more or less, has sidelined him for the remainder of the year. His condition required surgery and doctors recommended operating as soon as possible in order to avoid another debilitating infection.
So, after spending all of Thanksgiving in the hospital, Ron was wheeled into surgery at 7am on Christmas Eve morning. My sister has been a rockstar caring for her husband and organizing care for Chloe (7) and Jimmy (5). Christmas morning is a special time and there are only so many years where that wonder of Christmas magic glows in the faces of kids, so missing it was extremely hard on my sister.
Lizzy asked me to bring my camera so that I could capture some of that Christmas morning happiness and wonder. It’s no replacement for the real deal but these smiles are pretty genuine.
And, because no Winter family post is complete without a dog or two.
I’m happy to report that Ron came home the day after Christmas and is on the mend. Here’s to less hospital stays and more smiles in 2019 π
